I’m Kelsey — your intentional ceremony creator and officiant.
…and these are my words.
If I could, I’d delete this whole thing and write my words on a piece of stationary. I’d make a few photocopies at Office Max and post ‘em around the city. I’d put a few in envelopes and send them to loved ones around the country. I’d leave these copies in booths at bars and pages in books and under windshield wipers. Not because I believe that what I have to say is So Very Important, but because there is power in recognizing part of your story — your voice and your longings and your unspoken fears — in someone else’s. To be reminded that you are not the only one. I read to be reminded of that truth. And I write to remind others of that truth.
I have a complicated relationship with technology and the internet, like so many. I delete social media apps from my phone at a consistent pace of every other week. To be honest, I’m not sure how I feel about adding my own voice to the roar of humans blogging on the internet. But I don’t have a photocopier and I’ve got words to write and so I’m here. Thanks for stopping by.
